This article describes the overall "electrical grid" for Project: Flamenco, which is designed for 24/7 redundancy by "stacking" multiple generation sources.

Generation Sources

1. Solar Panel Array (Primary): Provides the main bulk of electrical power during the day. 2. Stirling Engine Array (Secondary/Night): The hybrid engines provide two forms of power:

   * **Mechanical:** Drives pumps directly during the day.
   * **Electrical:** The alternator provides a constant "trickle charge" to the batteries 24/7, especially at night when the solar panels are offline.

Storage

  • Battery Bank: A central 12V or 24V battery bank (similar to an RV or solar setup) stores energy from all sources.
  • Function: This bank "decouples" generation from use. It provides stable, on-demand power to critical DC loads (like pumps and LEDs) and runs inverters for any AC loads, regardless of whether the sun is shining or the servers are at full load.
