Project: Maria is the primary sub-project of Project: Flamenco, named for Santa Maria de la Cabeza. It encompasses all organic, biological, and "living" systems.
The core function of Project: Maria is to serve as the "lungs, kidneys, and stomach" of the facility. It is responsible for air and water filtration, food production, and internalizing resource loops. It is the "organic" counterpart to the "mechanical" systems of Project: Isidore.
Core Components
- Filtration Systems:
* Biowall Filtration System: The primary, "living" air filter for the entire warehouse. * Green Roof: Provides thermal insulation and pre-filters rainwater. * Loofah Filter Cultivation: An on-site, cultivated source for the food-safe filter in the dehydrator.
- Food & Water Systems:
* Aquaponics System: The closed-loop fish and plant system that provides food and nutrient-rich water for the biowall. * Greenhouse & Shadehouse: The "zoned" building envelope for agriculture and thermal shielding.
- Ecological Systems:
* Biological Pest Control: A dynamic system using beneficial insects rather than chemicals to manage pests.
